A central aim for our work is that it will enact positive change, whether that be socially, environmentally or politcally. Where we are based in Manchester there is a lack of funding supporting food waste disposal in areas that are prodominantly deprived. When talking about soil ecology and politics within our work we naturally went down the path to discuss how we can talk about this issue and for the art to be a solution to this problem. Vermicomposters use the quick composting abilities of certain worm species to break down food waste (and other plant based matter) to produce high quality fetiliser (worm juice) and soil. We built a number of these composters out of recycled and recliamed materials that were quick and easy to replicate by our audience.

We are hoping to produce a zine with the all the infomation for our audience to reproduce our designs and infomation on how to maintain the composters in their homes.
